TWO thousand more police could have ready access to guns while on patrol under plans to put firearms in every frontline car.
But the Police Association wants even greater routine access to firearms to protect officers from a sharp rise in shootings – including every shift supervisor routinely carrying a pistol on their hip.
President Greg O’Connor said every officer on patrol should also wear a holster to allow them to be speedily armed if needed, with pistols stored in their cars.

Trust this advice and I guarantee that your Human Resources Rep. and/or any future Legal Rep., will love you for it!
Yes, there is always a risk, and possibility of legal consequences ie. someone suing you for wrongful termination. Serious stuff, right?
Still, you can be confident! Terminating someone due to repeated, specific behavior and/or performance issues, can be reasonably understood by a 12-person jury. Whereas, firing someone because “you just didn’t like him/her” can raise serious doubt about the credibility of the manager.
So, one last time ? always keep comments (verbal and written) focused solely on Performance and/or Behavior.
Let?s consider a specific example.
How a great leader can present a
WINNING CHOICE
to a bad apple:
- Communicate clearly your expectations in terms of Performance and Behavior.
- Communicate the rewards of meeting your expectations ie. job security, future opportunity, respect and credibility
- Communicate the consequences of not meeting expectations ie. looking for another role where he/she will find more fulfillment.
- Allow the employee the opportunity to choose his/her own path (one road leads to rewards, the other road leads to new adventures – probably working for someone else)
- Ensure the employee that you will support the employee in either CHOICE he or she makes – but ultimately, the choice and the responsibility belongs to the employee.
- Confirm that the employee understands your expectations and that you will do your part by supporting him and holding him accountable.
Once you have had this discussion and placed the employee on a “Final Notice”, you have truly empowered the employee to create his/her own destiny.
The actions of the employee, in terms of both Performance and Behavior, will soon signal to you his or her “choice”.
Make sure you “support” the employee in whichever path she chooses to take.
Reward her for her progress, or release her from a situation that neither party is happy with.
By following the above guidelines, your team will respect you for your fair and decisive leadership.
No, it’s never easy to let someone go, but it is the right thing to do if that’s the employees? “choice”.

At the start do a warm up exercise, light stretching and determine a pace that is most comfortable for you. You can gradually increase your speed. Do not hunch your body and swing your arms naturally. Do not let them strain. When you happen to mount a hill lean slightly.
To avoid injuries increase your activity for only 1-2 minutes per day. After several weeks, review your progress and then increase or decrease the activity accordingly.

Anorexia nervosa is a serious condition in which the person stops or severely curtails their food intake to induce weight loss. Approximately ten percent of people who are anorexic die of their disease. People with this condition see themselves as being fat, even when extremely emaciated.
Bulimia is a condition where the patient eats food (sometimes gorging) and then vomits or takes laxatives or diuretics to avoid weight gain or induce weight loss. This can result in the loss of electrolytes and minerals essential for proper heart function and pH balance in the blood. Both these conditions are serious and require medical assistance.
Success in weight control comes by understanding the cause of your individual problem and then developing a program accordingly. Some people, who were unaware of what good nutrition consists of, only need to learn the facts about nutrition and exercise to apply what they have learned without difficulty.
Others have unconscious eating patterns such as eating while doing other activities and not paying attention to what or how much they are eating.

When a voltage is applied to one of these chambers the gas ionizes and
emits ultra-violet light. This light strikes red, green or plue phophors coated on the
inside of the chamber and a pixel emits this color light.
Plasma HDTVs tend to have better contrast than LCDs because, even when a pixel
on an LCD panel is switched off it doesn?t block all the light coming through and
therefore the pixel isn?t completely black. Plasma HDTVs also tend to have a wider
viewing angle than LCDs, as on LCD HDTVs the contrast and colour of the image can
change when the screen is viewed from different angles.
LCD vs Plasma HDTV conclusion
Technology is changing rapidly, but for now (July 2004) it?s still true to say that at
sizes of 40in and above, plasma offers a less-expensive and generally better
solution. For screen-sizes less than 40in LCD is better.

Embattled car yard owner Api Hemi is in the gun again after taking out finance on a Toyota Landcruiser and then selling it to a Cambridge couple.
The debt was not disclosed to Giovanni and Helen Di Maio when they bought the vehicle in 2007.
Now they are warning other Mega Motors customers to check for hidden debts after discovering Mr Hemi owed UDC Finance $8000 on the car they bought, when they tried to trade it in last month.
Because UDC held a registered security over the Landcruiser they could not complete the deal.
When Mr Di Maio rang UDC, he was told payments had stopped and UDC wanted to repossess the car.

The agreement will further enable both companies to leverage the online traffic between YPG’s leading Canada411.ca and YellowPages.ca properties, and 411.ca, a fast-growing online directory. This agreement that unites two of Canada’s largest local search engines will provide enhanced online reach for advertisers and a greater experience for users.

Under the agreement, 411 Local Search Corp. will have an exclusive license to use the 411.ca trademark until YPG purchases the balance of outstanding shares in the company within approximately three to five years. IDC Renews Insight Enterprises Certification
0 Comments | Manufacturing Close – Up, May 30, 2010
International Data said that Insight Enterprises has had its Green Recycling and Asset Disposal for the Enterprise certification renewed.
According to a release, the recertification is based on a detailed analysis of the company’s capabilities and is valid until May 2011. During the recertification process, IDC found that Insight Enterprises had expanded its on-site drive crushing operation and on- site data erasure capabilities. In addition, the company streamlined its vendor line up and tightened its management of logistics and carrier partners. Insight Enterprises also received the E-Steward and ISO-18000 certification in 2009.
“Despite the challenges presented by a difficult economy, Insight Enterprises’ ITAD operation benefited from a rather busy period,” said David Daoud, research manager, Personal Systems at IDC. “The company continued to invest in its logistics and data security capabilities while also improving its customer engagement capabilities. These investments should serve the company well as enterprises move into a new refresh cycle, spurred by improving economic conditions.”
The GRADE certification process is based on 34 IT Asset Disposal- related functions and tasks
But so what he said: let it do as it will, he had asked his God to save his daughter, now he had to stand down, not take advantage of Him. He had but one miracle to do today and he did it, and it was still in the process of being completed: not two, but one with two parts to it, should he ask for a third one, for himself: he could but he told himself one was in his heart when he asked, he felt too greedy to ask for two, or a third one, even though one with three parts would have been better. But one, only one did he ask for, and as the good book says, he quoted: ?Ask and you shall receive,? [Matt. 7:7]: thus far, he had asked, and it looked to him like he was receiving.
Lightening was striking, here and there, why it did not hit him, it would be a quick death he assured himself, why it did not hit him, he did not know, but it didn?t (his eyes were empty, rolled back into his skull, until only the bluish whites alone showed; he remained flaccid and powerless for the moment.
